
Force Falls at Home For First Time This Season

CLEVELAND, OHIO â The Cleveland Force returned home after a five game road trip and was defeated by the Kansas City Comets, 17-6, tonight in a Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) game at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University.
With the loss, Cleveland fell to 8-7 overall and 5-3 versus Western Conference opponents. With the victory, the Kansas City improved to 7-8 overall and 1-1 in the season series.
The Force opened the scoring (2-0) when Chris Stathopoulos scored a two-point power play goal off the assist from Lee Edgerton at 11:38 of the first quarter.
Cleveland added to its lead (4-0) when Giuliano Oliviero scored a two-point goal off the assist from Hector Marinaro at 4:00 of the second quarter. With the assist, Marinaro extended his scoring streak to 53 straight games with at least a point. The Comets cut into the lead (4-2) when Nino DaSilva scored a two-point goal off the cross from Jeff Davis at 5:52. Kansas City tied the game (4-4) when Nicola Corneli scored a two-point goal off the pass from Alex Zotinca at 7:27. The Force regained the lead (6-4) when Justin Evans found the back of the net off the cross from Oliviero at 8:03 of the second quarter. The Comets took their first lead of the game (6-7) when Bill Sedgewick scored a three-point goal at 10:54. Kansas City added to its lead (6-9) when Nate Houser found the back of the goal off the assist from Zotinca at 13:20.
The two teams battled to a scoreless third quarter.
The Comets got the first points of the second half (6-11) when Chad James scored a two-point goal off the pass from Nikola Vignjevic at 1:20 of the final period. Kansas City added to its lead (6-13) when Zotinca found the back of the net off the cross from Dino Delevski at 2:58. The Comets scored again (6-15) when DaSilva found the back of the net from Delevski at 10:44. Kansas City got the final points of the game (6-17) when DaSilva found the back of the net off the assist from Paolo Ceccarelli at 14:29.
Cleveland will next play host to the Dallas Sidekicks on Friday, January 3rd in a MISL game at the Convocation Center at CSU. The game has a new start time and is scheduled to start 5:05 p.m. instead of the original 7:35 p.m. start time.
