Force Defender Has Successful Surgery

CLEVELAND, OHIO- Dr. Ray Onders of University Hospitals and Cleveland Force Trainer Aaron Galpert announced that defender D.J. Newsom underwent successful double hernia surgery today at University Hospitals.

Newsom suffered the double hernia on March 22nd at Harrisburg and was sidelined for the final regular season game versus the Philadelphia KiXX. DJ did return to action for the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Eastern Conference Semi-Final game.

Newsom, who completed his first season in Cleveland, appeared in 34 of 36 regular season games and recorded a career-high in goals with six and added two assists for a career-high 14 points. He led the team with a career-high 59 blocks. Newsom earned the Force Unsung Hero Award sponsored by Continental Airlines.
