Force advance to Conference Championship Game by Defeating Philadelphia 65-39

ATLANTA, GA - The Georgia Force (14-2, 1-0) advanced to the National Conference Championship game after defeating the Philadelphia Soul (8-8, 1-1), 65-39, in front of 11,225 fans at Philips Arena. Force QB Chris Greisen completed 18 of 25 passes for 301 yards with seven touchdowns and added one carry for two yards and one score. WR Chris Jackson led all receivers with 10 catches for 169 yards with four touchdowns and earned Offensive Player of the Game honors for his efforts. Georgia will host the Columbus Destroyers on Saturday, July 14 at 1 p.m., in Philips Arena.

The Georgia Force started the first quarter with a 56-yard kickoff return by WR Troy Bergeron for a touchdown that propelled the Force to a 20-7 lead at the end of the first. On Philadelphia's ensuing possession, QB Tony Graziani was intercepted by rookie DB James Whitley in the back of the endzone. Georgia quickly converted the turnover into seven points when Greisen connected with WR Derek Lee for a 38-yard touchdown. The Soul put their first points of the game on the board when Graziani found WR Jerrian James for a 16-yard catch and run. Greisen threw a screen pass to Bergeron who finished it with an eight-yard run and a touchdown.

Georgia continued to lead the game by a score of 33-19 at the end of the first half. Philadelphia had to settle for two field goals to start the second quarter, while the Force scored two touchdowns. Bergeron hauled in a 24-yard pass for the first score and Greisen carried the ball in the endzone from two yards out. James capped the scoring in the first half with a 14-yard touchdown catch from Graziani.

The Force defense continued to make plays in the third quarter as DB Reggie Doster tallied the team's second interception of Graziani on the Soul's opening possession of the second half. Georgia responded with a 15-yard touchdown pass form Greisen to Jackson. Philadelphia produced their only points of the quarter on a 12-yard screen pass from Graziani to FB/LB Idris Price. Greisen and Jackson combined again for a score, this time from 14 yards out.

The Force offense and defense continued to work hand and hand to lead the Force to a 65-39 victory. Jackson added two more touchdown receptions in the quarter to give him four on the night and bring Greisen's total to seven touchdown passes on the night.
