Force acquires forward in trade

CLEVELAND, OHIO- Cleveland Force President and General Manager Paul Garofolo today announced that the team has traded for the playing rights to forward Attilla Vendegh (Ah-Till-Ah Venn-Day) from the Chicago Storm in exchange for defender Fred DeGand.

"We thank Fred for his service to our team, however it came down to a numbers issue. We are pleased that were able to place Fred with his hometown team," stated Garofolo.

Vendegh, a 24-year old native of Bratislava, Slovakia, was selected by the Storm in the fourth round of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Dispersal draft held on Wednesday, January 5. Attilla was drafted by the San Diego Sockers in the 2004 MISL Amateur Draft out of Old Dominion University.

Vendegh spent this past summer playing for the Atlanta Silverbacks and the Syracuse Salty Dogs in the A-League. He appeared in five games for the Silverbacks but did not record a goal or an assist before being traded to the Salty Dogs. With Syracuse, Attilla appeared in 12 games and recorded three goals and three assists for a total of nine points.

While at Old Dominion, Vendegh finished his career as the all-time leader in goals with 56 and points with 134. He was named All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) on four occasions, All-State on three occasions, All-Region on three occasions, CAA and Virginia Player of the Year on two occasions, first-team All-VaSID and the CAA Rookie of the Year. In addition, Attilla was a first-team College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academica All-American selection, CAA Scholar Athlete of the Year and second-team All-VaSID Academic Team on two occasions.

DeGand was in his second season with the Force.
