Chicago Bandits Signee, Pitcher Morgan Foley with the University of Indianapolis

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Bandits announced today that they have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with UIndy's all-time leader in wins, Morgan Foley, for the upcoming 2016 season.
Foley is the first player from the 2016 senior class to sign with the Bandits, and she becomes the first Division II player to play for Chicago in its 12-year history. Foley is expected to join the Bandits in time for Monday's initial practice of the 2016 season.
"This is a signing our entire organization is excited about," said Bandits GM Aaron M. Moore. "Too many times players at smaller schools, including those at the Division II level, get overlooked by our teams and it's time to make a change.
"Morgan is someone that has the chance to come in and surprise a lot of people in the NPF a lot like Andi (Williamson) did a couple of years ago. She throws the balls extremely hard, is effective down in the zone and has the ability to locate the ball. We're looking forward to having Morgan in the Orange & Black this season!"
The Louisville, Ky. native had an illustrious career while at the University of Indianapolis. She recently ended her four-year career as the school's all-time leader in wins (140), innings pitched (1027.0) and strikeouts (1,659) and she was just recently named the 2016 D2CCA Midwest Pitcher of the Year. The right-handed hurler recorded eight career no hitters, including one in the opening game of the 2015 World Series against eventual champion North Georgia.
Foley's career strikeout total ranks her second all-time in DII history, trailing only Akron Racers draftee Hannah Perryman. Foley's name appears in the record book more than one time, including striking out an NCAA-record 30 batters in a 13-inning, one-hit win against Rockhurst. Earlier this season in a no-hit victory, Foley became just the third pitcher in NCAA history (first DII pitcher) to strikeout all 21 hitters in a seven-inning game.
"I am so thankful for this amazing opportunity to play for the Bandits," exclaimed Foley. "I have always dreamed of playing professionally and to be given this opportunity is truly humbling.
"I was fortunate to play for a high caliber Division II program where I had coaches that helped me grow as a pitcher and get me to this level. I am so excited to play my first game as a Bandit!"
Foley, 22, a communications major while at the University of Indianapolis, had another solid season for the Greyhounds in 2016. As a senior in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, Foley had another dominant season. She finished the campaign with a 40-4 record, five no-hitters and a 0.85 earned run average to go along with 487 strikeouts. Foley also started the season by winning her first 30 decisions of the season.

"It is great to see a player of her caliber, work ethic and dedication to the sport earn the prestigious opportunity to pitch at the professional level. Morgan's signing with the Bandits just continues to put the University of Indianapolis and our softball program on a national level just as she has her entire career.
