Fog Devils roster begins to form

The St. John's Fog Devils Hockey Club announced today that club has selected 24 players in the QMJHL Expansion Draft held in Chicoutimi, PQ on Wednesday afternoon. The Fog Devils had the 1st overall pick and selected Newfoundland native Scott Brophy. Brophy becomes the first player in franchise history to wear the Fog Devils jersey.

After Brophy the Fog Devils selected Newfoundland native, Wes Welcher, with its 2nd pick and Marty Doyle with its 3rd pick. Welcher played with the Moncton Wildcats last season, while Dolye played with the Shawinigan Cataracts

Other Draft Highlights include:

· Three (3) Newfoundlanders were chosen by the Fog Devils including Brophy, Welcher and Rodi Short. · Positional Breakdown for the Expansion Draft includes three (3) goaltenders, six (6) defencemen, five (5) centers and nine (9) wingers. · Age breakdown (when the season begins) includes five (5) 20-year olds, eight (8) 19-year olds, seven (7) 18-year olds and four (4) 17-year olds.

The Fog Devils, along with the Saint John Sea Dogs selected players left unprotected the QMJHL's 16 current teams' 55-man rosters. Teams could lose no more than three players in the draft and only one goalie. Both the Fog Devils and Sea Dogs will be allowed to carry five (5) overage players on the rosters this season, four (4) during the 2006-07 and return to the CHL standard of three (3) in 2007-08.

The St. John's Fog Devils are the newest member of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and are one of 58 member clubs of the Canadian Hockey League. The franchise begins its inaugural season in September 2005.

Season Ticket information is currently available at the Fog Devils website (www.fogdevils.com). Former Season Ticket Holders of the St. John's Maple Leafs are currently being given first right to their seats until June 8. After this dates, Season Tickets will be available to the public.
