St. John's Fog Devils News Release

The St. John's Fog Devils took part in its first ever European Import Draft today and selected a pair of players from Sweden - forwards Nicklas Bergfors and Oscar Sundh.

The Fog Devils had the 2nd Overall pick in the Import Draft and chose the 5'11, 192lbs Bergfors. The 18 years old winger played in the Sodertalje system (Swedish Elite League and Under 20 League) and is considered one of the most talented Swedish players born in 1987. Bergfors was a rookie with Sodertalje in the Swedish Under-20 League last year and despite being a number of years younger than most of his opponents he was one of the best players in the League. He also represented Sweden in this year's World Under-18 World Championships.

Bergfors is described as a: "Complete player who is an excellent skater and accelerates very well. He has great hockey sense and has fine technical skills... He has a nose for the net and a hard shot, but is at the same time very capable of setting up plays"

Sundh was selected with the Fog Devils 2nd Round Pick, 60th Overall. The 6'2, 194lbs winger played with Almtuna of the Swedish Division 1 League.

Sundh is described as: "A very strong skater with extremely high work ethics. He has good play making skills and good hands. Has all the tools needed to be an impact player, however needs to improve his scoring touch"

The Import Draft saw all 58 Canadian Hockey League teams participate in a 2-Round Draft allowing the teams to select eligible European players. Each CHL/QMJHL team is allowed up to a maximum of two non-North American players on its roster and these players must be drafted through the Canadian Hockey League Import.
