Focus shifts to playoffs

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Chicago Storm suffered their first loss to the expansion Orlando Sharks on Saturday night, 13-9, in Major Indoor Soccer League action at Amway Arena. But heading into the match, the Storm already secured their No. 5 seed in the MISL Championship Series.

That's where Chicago (15-15) puts all its focus, in preparation for its two- match quarterfinal series against No. 4 seed La Raza de Monterrey. In other league news, Detroit won the regular-season MISL title and earns a No. 1 seed in the playoffs. Milwaukee is the No. 2 seed in the postseason and faces the winner of the Storm-La Raza quarterfinal series.

Despite Saturday's defeat, the Storm took the season series against Orlando, 3- 1. The Sharks picked up their fourth win to finish their inaugural MISL season with a 4-26 record.

For the Storm, John Ball scored a three-point goal in the second quarter to give Chicago a 7-4 lead at the 8:53 mark of the second quarter. But less than a minute later, Orlando countered with a three-point goal to tie the score at 7-7 and scored three of the game's next four goals to pull away.

Matthew Stewart, Ian Bennett and Benjamin Chavolla were the other goal scorers for the Storm. Chicago goalkeeper Jeff Richey made 11 saves, while his counterpart, Paul Nagy, saved 14 shots for Orlando.
