
FM Jets to star again on local radio

Fargo (ND) For the second consecutive season, each of the Fargo-Moorhead Jets 58 hockey games -home and away- will be broadcast live on KVMI "STAR" 103.9 in the Red River Valley. The deal also includes coverage of the team's two preseason games, and any postseason games the team may participate in.
Utica, NY native -and 2005 North American Hockey League All-Star Game Broadcaster-Scott Montesano will once again return as the play-by-play announcer.
The first broadcast will be Friday Sept. 8 at 7:30 when the FM Jets travel to face the North Iowa Outlaws in a preseason game. That will be followed Sept. 9 with a 7pm game at the Southern Minnesota Express. Both broadcasts will be five minutes before the opening face-off.
"We look forward to continuing our relationship with a growing station, and to bring our fans every one of our games on local radio has been a priority" general manager Randy Nielsen.
Once the regular season begins, broadcasts will start 20 minutes before the opening face-off with the Jets Warm-Up Show, featuring an interview with the head coach Chad Johnson and a preview of the game. After the game, a 15-minute post-game report will replay highlights and recap the game.
New this season is the "Scoreboard Show" which will follow all home games, and will feature scores from around the NAHL as well as national scores of interest from other sports. Concordia College senior Sarah Cobb will anchor the show, as she joins the broadcasts this season.
"Sarah will be a great addition to the broadcasts, and fans will have yet another reason to tune in on their ride home when they leave the Coliseum, "said Montesano.
The FM Jets have also once again entered into an agreement with Sportsjuice.com to stream each of the team's games over the Internet.
"Nowadays, having games broadcast on the Internet is an absolute must, "added Montesano. "Five years ago it was a novelty, now it is simply expected and very much worth the cost."
The only games which won't be streamed on the Internet will be the team's preseason games this weekend.
Featuring a mix of music from the 90s and today, STAR 103.9's format is listenable for all ages. With a strong signal of 25,000 watts, STAR's reach stretches from Grand Forks to south of Fargo-Moorhead.
The Jets will kick off the regular season, and defense of their 2005 NAHL West Division title, with games on Sept. 16 and 17 at Bismarck, followed by a week off. The home opener is scheduled for Sept. 30 at 7:05pm against the Minnesota Blizzard.
The FM Jets are the 2005 Borne Cup Champions and are entering their third season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 30th year of operation.
Jets home games are played at the John E. Carlson Coliseum in Fargo, ND. All games are broadcast at STAR 103.9 and fmjets.com.
