Flyers Walk-Off Winners

The Flyers opened a three game series with the Yuma Scorpions stealing an 11-10 win in the bottom of the 9th inning at Goodwin Field. Jon Grijalva threw 2.1 shutout innings of relief to get his first win of the season in his second appearance for Fullerton.

Peanut Williams cranked his 10th homerun to put the Flyers in front 3-0 in the 1st inning.

The Flyers were down 6-3 when they scored five runs in the bottom of the 6th inning. The rally was capped by Levier's three-RBI double.

The Flyers coughed up the lead in the 7th inning when Jeff Groeger gave up four runs in relief. Billy Kovatch had a two-RBI single to key the Yuma rally.

Charlie Hough was ejected in the 7th inning for arguing balls and strikes. Garry Templeton was ejected in the 5th inning for arguing a call at 1st base.

The Flyers scored two in the 9th off of Walt Nolen, who relieved ace specialist Jared Terrebone. Nolen gave up two singles, a walk and hit two batters in the rally.

Craig Frydendall and Ryan Amason got no decisions as the starting pitchers in the game.

This was the Flyers third walk-off victory on the season.

The Flyers will host Yuma tomorrow night at 6 pm. The game will be immediately followed by a fireworks display.
