
Flyers Unveil Live at-Bat Music for Final 2008 Game

Schaumburg, IL - Live music has been a staple at Alexian Field this season with live bands entertaining after Saturday evening games. For their final regular season game, the Flyers are going a step further and featuring live at-bat music as they take on the Gary SouthShore RailCats on Sunday, August 31st. It is believed that the Flyers will be the first minor league team to offer live at-bat music.
"The Flyers are always thinking of fun and new promotions to entertain our fans," says Ben Burke, General Manager for the Schaumburg Flyers. "We're pleased to be the first minor league team to bring a new twist to the familiar concept of player walk-up music."
The live at-bat music will be performed by local band Turning Down Today and will feature classic rock and contemporary hits as each hitter comes to the plate.
"We're excited to bring live rock music to a baseball game," say Rich Vallone, lead guitarist for Turning Down Today and Palatine resident. "It's an exciting thing, especially since it hasn't been done before."
The Flyers have always been on the cutting edge of minor league promotions. In 2005, the Flyers ran a promotion in correlation to Fan Club on MSN.com where fans voted online to choose the Flyers starting lineups. Also in 2005, an exhibition game against the Flyers was placed on auction, raising over $20,000 for charity.
The Schaumburg Flyers are a member of the Northern League, a 6-team Independent Professional Baseball League established in 1993. The Flyers final home stand begins on Friday, August 29th with a spectacular post-game fireworks show, presented by Jewel-Osco. The Flyers are also proud to host a Charity Jersey Auction featuring throw back jerseys from the Negro League's Kansas City Monarchs. All proceeds will benefit Ryno Kid Care. Game time is 6:45 p.m., gates open at 5:25 p.m. Saturday, August 30th, is Military Appreciation Night. Come early for a Flyers Drawstring Jersey Backpack giveaway courtesy of Devry University's Keller Graduate School. The Flyers will also host post-game live music featuring Flyte Game time is 6:05 p.m., gates open at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, August 31st, kids can run the bases and meet the team with a post-game autograph session featuring the entire Flyers squad.
