Flyers Trim Two Goalies From Phantoms Roster

GLENS FALLS, NY - The Adirondack Phantoms, proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, announced today that the Flyers have reassigned goaltender Michael-Lee Teslak to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) and reassigned goalie Nic Riopel to his junior team, the Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL).

Riopel, 20, made his professional debut as Adirondack's opening night starter on October 3rd vs. Worcester. In 10 starts with the Phantoms this season, the Beloeil, Quebec native posted a 4-6-0 record, with a 3.35 goals-against average and a 0.893 save percentage; he was on the rise, winning three of his last five appearances. Riopel was drafted by the Flyers in the 5th round (142nd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and signed a three-year entry level contract with Philadelphia on August 11, 2009. Last season with Moncton (QMJHL) he was awarded the Jacques Plante Memorial Trophy for having the lowest goals-against average (2.01) in the league, which was a new QMJHL record, and was selected as the 2008-09 QMJHL MVP, being awarded the Michel Briere Memorial Trophy.

Teslak, 23, made his first appearance for the Phantoms this season last Saturday, making 28 saves in a 7-4 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the Civic Center. The Fernie, British Columbia native has played in 12 ECHL games for the Elmira Jackals this year with a 5-5-2 record, a 2.96 goals-against average and a 0.890 save percentage. Teslak has played in 12 career AHL games for the Phantoms over the last two years, posting a 5-5-0 record with a 3.06 goals-against average and a 0.907 save percentage. Teslak signed with the Flyers as a free agent on March 19, 2008.

Adirondack hosts the Hamilton Bulldogs, AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, for the first time this season on Friday, December 18th for a 7:30 pm face off at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
