Flyers Fall in 12 to the Goldeyes

June 13, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Schaumburg Flyers News Release

Schaumburg, IL - It was another night and another tough loss for the Flyers (6-15). With the game tied two to two in the top of the 12th inning the Flyers could not hold the Goldeyes (13-10) for any longer. A walk, a balk, a sacrifice bunt and a Brett Wallace sacrifice fly led to Winnipeg's third and winning run in the top of the 12th and the Flyers could not answer in the bottom half of the frame.

The Flyers bats could not get runners in, as a total of thirteen men were left on base. However, some Schaumburg hitters had good nights at the plate. Joey Gomes went three for five with two singles and a double. Mike Mooney went two for four with two singles in the game.

The pitching tonight was again impressive for the Flyers. Starting pitcher Cody Evans (0-2) went 7.2 innings and gave up only two runs on six hits with three strikeouts. The relief effort was just as good, as Brian McCullough tossed three and one thirds of an inning without giving up a run and only one hit. Reid Price then came in to pitch in the top of the twelfth and give up the go ahead run, surrendering just one hit.

The Flyers and Goldeyes match up in the series rubber match Sunday afternoon.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:20 PM. Join Alex Perlman and Chris Lobosco on 1410 WRMN and flyersbaseball.com for all the action as the Flyers take on the Goldeyes. The Schaumburg Flyers Pregame Show gets rolling at 1:00 PM with the game to follow.
