Orange County Flyers News Release

The Flyers trailed 8-2 heading into the 9th inning at Desert Sun Stadium against the Yuma Scorpions and nearly pulled off a miraculous comeback. But Bret Levier popped out with the go-ahead run in scoring position and the tying run at third to end the game and give Yuma an 8-7 win.

The Scorpions swept the four-game series against the Flyers and won all seven home games against Orange County in the 2007 season.

SP Eric Maydew pitched six strong for Yuma to earn the victory. Yuma moved to 21-16, while the Flyers dropped to 18-19.

Reed Dickert was roughed up in the 5th and 6th innings by the Scorpions. Rich Janeway slammed a three-run homerun off Dickert to put Yuma up 4-2. Dickert and RP Nick Casanova combined to give up four runs in the 6th inning.

Mike Goss drove in three runs in the game including a two-run double.

Yuma committed two errors in the 9th inning to pave the way for an Orange County comeback. Peanut Williams, who homered in the 2nd inning, closed the gap to one run with a bases loaded double that scored two.

The Flyers will return home to face the Long Beach Armada on Monday night at 7:05 on orangecountyflyers.com.
