Colorado 14ers News Release

DENVER, April 3 - The Fort Worth Flyers clinched a berth in the NBA Development League Eastern Division playoffs with a 110-101 win over the Colorado 14ers on Tuesday night. The Flyers improve to 27-19 with the win, while the 14ers fall to 27-19 with their fourth straight loss.

The win secures the third and final Eastern Division playoff berth for Ft. Worth. The Flyers will join the Dakota Wizards and the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the post-season.

"I thought our players recognized the sense of urgency. I knew we would make the playoffs, but I am concerned about our seeding," said Flyers coach Sidney Moncrief. "I knew this would be the toughest game remaining on our schedule, and our guys came in and played hard and played solid for 48 minutes."

Fort Worth was led by Ndudi Ebi's 25 points in 22 minutes off the bench. Pops Mensah-Bonsu added 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Deji Akindele and Curtis Stinson also posted double-doubles in the Flyers victory.

Colorado led by as many as four points with 4:18 to play, but Fort Worth rallied to tie things up at 101 with 1:19 remaining. The Flyers took a three point lead with a Jeremy Richardson jumper and a free throw from Pops Mensah-Bonsu with 23.7 seconds left. Colorado missed its best chance to tie when Jeremy Richardson tipped a Mark Jones inbounds pass and Walker Russell made the steal for the Flyers. Russell closed the game out with six straight free throws in the final seconds, giving Fort Worth an eleven-nothing run to end the game.

The 14ers were led by Von Wafer's 21 points in the loss. Pooh Jeter added 13 points and seven assists for Colorado in defeat.

Both teams face potential playoff opponents in their next game. Fort Worth heads to Bismarck for a Friday night match-up with the Dakota Wizards. Colorado will host the Idaho Stampede in Broomfield on Friday.
