Flurry of Moves Breaks in New Year

BOUCHERVILLE, Sunday, January 2, 2011 ‚¬" Following a relatively quiet few days on the trade front during the holidays, several teams made blockbuster deals on this second day of 2011.

The Chicoutimi Saguenéens traded goaltender Robin Gusse (93-04-23) and defenseman Jérémy Barriault (92-10-16) to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies for winger Jonathan Bonneau (90-07-10) and defenseman Sean Girard (93-04-09).

The Shawinigan Cataractes acquired Ryan Kavanagh (91-02-12) from the Rimouski Océanic for a first round pick in 2011 (via Cape Breton) and a third round pick in 2012. Rimouski then traded a third round pick in 2011 and a second round selection in 2012 to the Moncton Wildcats to get defenseman Alex MacDonald (91-06-25).

The Wildcats sent Philippe Trudeau (93-09-28) to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles for a fifth round pick in 2012 (via Chicoutimi).

The Baie-Comeau Drakkar sent Jonathan Parisien (91-06-11) to the Lewiston MAINEiacs for a fifth round pick in 2011 (via Drummondville).

Of note, the trade period ends on Thursday, January 6 at noon.
