Florida's Roy Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Mathieu Roy of the Florida Everblades is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for March. It is the second conseuctive month that Roy has captured the monthly honor, making him the first player since Cincinnati's Jean-Michel Daoust (Dec. 2007 and Jan. 2008) to win two Player of the Month awards in the same season.

Roy scored 10 goals, added 17 assists and was a +9 as the Everblades went 11-3-1 during the final month of the regular season.

The 26-year-old scored at least one point in 14 of 15 games during March, highlighted by a five-point game (2g-3a) in an 8-3 win at Orlando on March 26. He also had two three-point games (March 8 at Fort Wayne and March 30 vs. Orlando) and had five two-point games during the month.

A native of Amos, Quebec, Roy led the ECHL this season with 38 goals and 89 points, becoming the first player to lead the league in both categories since 2008-09, and last week, was named to the All-ECHL First Team.

Roy has 281 points (123g-158a) in 393 career ECHL games with Pensacola and Florida and he has added 17 points (9g-8a) in 31 Kelly Cup Playoffs games. Roy captained the Everblades to their first-ever Kelly Cup title in 2012.
