Florida's Heard Named CCM/ECHL Player of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Florida Everblades' forward Mitchell Heard has been named the CCM ECHL?Player of the Month for March.

Heard scored seven goals, assisted on 12 others and was a +13 in 13 games, helping the Everblades to a 12-1-0 record during the month.

The 26-year-old picked up at least one point in 11 of his 13 games, including three three-point games - March 3 against Greenville, March 17 against Orlando and March 21 against Norfolk.

A native of Bowmanville, Ontario, Heard is tied for the Everblades' team lead, and is tied for eighth in the league, with 65 points (24g-41a) in 61 games this season. He has also suited up in four games with Charlotte of the American Hockey League.

Heard has tallied 126 points (52g-74a) in 117 career ECHL games with Florida, Adirondack and Fort Wayne while adding 39 points (14g-25a) in 199 career AHL games with Charlotte, Stockton and Lake Erie.

Prior to turning pro, Heard recorded 144 points (67g-77a) in 171 career games with Plymouth of the Ontario Hockey League.

Runners Up: Shane Conacher, Adirondack (12 gp, 8g, 10a, 18 pts.) and Josh Shalla, Indy (13 gp, 11g, 5a, 16 pts.).
