
Florida State League Names Pitcher and Player of the Week

The Florida State League today named the Player and Pitcher of the Week for May 6 - May 12, 2013.
The Player of the Week was Daytona Cubs Outfielder Jorge Soler who played in four (4) games and collected seven (7) hits in 15 plate appearances for a .467 batting average. His hits included two (2) homeruns, one (1) triple, and three (3) doubles. He had four (4) RBI's, and scored five (5) times. Soler had a .471 OBP and a 1.200 slugging average. Jorge is in his second year of professional baseball and resides in Port Au Prince, Haiti.
The Pitcher of the Week was Fort Myers Miracle Right-hander D.J. Baxendale. He started two (2) games, recorded one (1) win, and had a 0.00 ERA. In fourteen (14) innings pitched he gave up six (6) hits and no earned runs. He issued one (1) walk, and struck out 16 batters. D.J. is in his second year of professional baseball and he resides in Fayetteville, AR.
