Florida Seals News Release
[CELEBRATION, Fla.] - The Florida Seals and the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) released the 2005-2006 season schedule today. The Florida Seals will make their debut on October 21, 2005 in Knoxville, Tenn. The Seals will play Silver Spurs Arena's first hockey game October 29.
The 22 week SPHL schedule is set to begin on Friday, October 21, 2005 and runs through Saturday, March 18, 2006. The Seals will visit last year's regular season champion Ice Bears in Knoxville to begin the regular season. In addition, opening weekend will put the two Florida rivals together for the first time Saturday, October 22 in Jacksonville.
After a modest three game road trip the Seals will finally debut in the Silver Spurs Arena against their instate rival Barracudas on Saturday, October 29 at 7:35 pm. The game will start a season long eight game home stand that will keep on home ice through November 19.
"Our schedule is fairly favorable," said General Manager Chris LiPuma, "We will be able to show the fans some great hockey early in the season in a short amount of time."
The Seals will really be tested for five weeks starting in late January and all through the month of February. A season long 13 game road trip will welcome the Seals just past the season's half way point.
"The road trip doesn't bother me too much," said Head Coach Tommy Stewart, "When I coached and played in Macon we were gone four weeks each February and the team really seemed to bond well during the long road trips."
All Seals home games will start at 7:35 pm with the exception of Sunday, November 6 where the puck will drop at 6:05 pm. Season ticket specials will remain in place for a few more weeks. Call the Seals office for more information at 321-939-2465.
