Florida Firecats Remain atop American Conference in af2 Playoff Standings

Estero, FL- For the second straight week, the Florida Firecats sit atop the American Conference in the playoff standings the arenafootball2 (af2) league office announced today.

Florida is coming off a 47-35 loss at Manchester last Friday night. As a result, both Florida and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton have 8-2 records. But the Firecats currently hold the tiebreaker over the Pioneers due to the ‘Cats better winning percentage in games against common opponents. Florida and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will square off on Saturday, June 28th at Germain Arena.

Eight teams in each conference qualify for the af2 playoffs, with games being played at the highest seed. The conference winners will square off in the ArenaCup, the championship game of af2, which will be held at the venue of the participating team with the best overall record. The Firecats hosted the ArenaCup in 2004, the year the team won its only af2 championship.
