TODAY'S GAME: Game one of a four-game series against the Daytona Tortugas (CIN) to open the second half...Game one of a 10-game homestand against Daytona, the Dunedin Blue Jays, and Tortugas...Florida is coming off a 1-2 series defeat to the Jupiter Hammerheads to close out the first half...Third of five series (18 games) against the Cincinnati Reds' affiliate, including nine at Osceola County Stadium...The Fire Frogs have lost six consecutive games to the Tortugas after winning the season opener at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, 3-2...Florida finished 7-7 against Daytona in 2017, including 5-2 at home.

TODAY'S STARTING PITCHER: 20-year-old Joey Wentz makes his ninth start of the season to open up the second half against the Daytona Tortugas on Thursday night...The 6'5" lefty entered the 2018 season as the 10th-ranked prospect in the Atlanta Braves organization, according to MLB.com...The Shawnee Mission East High School product did not factor into the decision of a 4-1 loss to the Bradenton Marauders at Osceola County Stadium on June 13...The southpaw allowed a homerun to Jared Oliva on his fourth pitch of the game to start the night, but did not allow another run through his remaining 2.1 innings of work...The 220-pound hurler scattered three hits, walked a man, and struck out two on curveballs on 42 pitches (25 strikes)...Wednesday will be Wentz's third career start against the Tortugas...The Kansas native is 0-1 against the Cincinnati Reds' affiliate, allowing four runs on eight hits, four walks and six punchouts across 6.1 innings.

FLORIDA DROPS FIRST-HALF FINALE AGAINST JUPITER: The Florida Fire Frogs had no answers against Jordan Yamamoto and the Jupiter Hammerheads on Wednesday night, dropping the rubber match to end the first half, 2-0 at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

Garrison Schwartz broke up Yamamoto's perfect-game bid with a two-out single in the fifth. The left-handed batter singled again in the eighth, finishing the night with two of the team's four hits.

Ian Anderson earned his third quality start of the season, but ended up taking the loss after allowing two runs on seven hits, a walk, and set a team-high with eight strikeouts through six frames.

A LITTLE HELP, PLEASE: In dropping the finale against the Hammerheads, the Fire Frogs are now 2-11 in games started by Ian Anderson...The 20-year-old has received just 20 runs of support in his 13 starts (1.5 runs/game), and the team has been outscored by four runs when the right-hander is on the mound...The Atlanta Braves' fifth-ranked prospect heads into the weekend third in the league in strikeouts (70), 11th in ERA (3.51), and has a .230 average against. The New York native has allowed more than three runs in just two starts this season.

YEARLY COMPARISON: Florida wrapped up the first half losing two of its final three games, but has seen much improvement during its second season...The Atlanta Braves' affiliate finished the first half of its inaugural campaing 25-41, with only three wins coming in June...The Fire Frogs already have eight victories in the third month of the season in 2018.
