Flint Generals News Release

Flint, Michigan - The Flint Generals of the International Hockey League (IHL) announced Thursday during a press conference that they will return to the ice this fall and a new majority owner will be at the helm.

Flint area businessman and long-time Generals supporter Travis Prince has assumed control of the Generals. It was also announced that Brandon Bordeaux will partner with Prince in the new Flint Generals ownership group.

"Travis Prince is the perfect fit to be the face of the Flint Generals from an ownership standpoint," said IHL Chairman Michael Franke. "The fans know Travis and his passion for the Generals. The players appreciate all of his efforts over the past two years."

The Generals will compete in the seven-member International Hockey League in the upcoming 2009- 10 campaign. The IHL also includes fellow Michigan teams Muskegon and Port Huron. Illinois teams include Bloomington and Moline (Quad City) while Fort Wayne, Indiana and Dayton, Ohio round out the circuit.

The Generals will celebrate their 40th anniversary season of professional hockey in Flint Friday, October 16th when they open the 2009-10 campaign against the Muskegon Lumberjacks.

This year's Flint schedule will feature a large number of Friday, Saturday and Sunday home games.

The complete IHL schedule is expected to be released next week. "The schedule process has been taken very seriously this year as seven teams created an off-night for one team every night," Franke said. "But we have taken the time to make the schedule right."

The Generals will be announcing further staff additions soon. "A new coach will be added in the next week," said Prince. "A number of key players have already made it clear to me that they want to be a part of the Generals organization."
