MOBILE, Ala. (Dec. 17) â Brandon Williams scored 11 of his game-high 22 points in the third quarter to help propel Huntsville to a big run and lead the Flight to a 84-81 NBDL victory over the Mobile Revelers here Tuesday night at the Mardi Gras Dome.
The Flight (9-5) again returned to first place all alone with the win as they captured their second straight road victory and snapped a four-game skid against Mobile dating back to last season. The Revelers (5-6) lost for the third straight time at home.
Lonnie Harrell added 20 points for the Flight in the win, while Bakari Hendrix collected 15. Bobby Simmons led five Revelers in double figures with 15 points, as Sean Colson and Derek Hood added 13 apiece, Isaac Fontaine collected 12 and Eugene Edgerson tallied 10.
After scoring the first bucket of the contest, the Flight found themselves behind the remainder of the first half, trailing 21-15 after one period and 42-38 at the half.
The Flight then got going to start the third quarter with a 9-1 run to give them a 47-43 advantage. Mike Wilks hit a couple of baskets and Williams had a three-point play as well as scoring another goal to complete the run.
Huntsville led 56-52 before scoring the final 14 points and outscore the Revelers 32-10 in the third quarter to take 70-52 advantage heading into the last period.
Mobile, though, rallied down the stretch by outscoring the visitors 11-2 to start the final period. The Revelers continued to chip at the lead and trailed by just five at 82-77 after a bucket with 46.6 seconds left.
Huntsville had a chance to extend its lead but Williams made just 2-of-6 free throws in the final 8.4 seconds and the Revelers hit a pair of shots including a dunk by Simmons with 2.4 left to cut the final margin to three.
For the game, the Flight shot 52.5 percent by hitting 31-of-59 from the field, but was outrebounded 36-33 by the Revelers.
The Flight returns to action Friday when they play at North Charleston in a 6 p.m. CT contest.
