Flight To Hold School Days Games
January 30, 2003 - NBA G League (G League)
Huntsville Flight News Release
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., January 30, 2003 â The Huntsville Flight plays a pair of matinee games the next two Tuesdays for area school children in their second annual "School Days" promotion.
The Flight, which plays against Mobile (Feb. 4) and Fayetteville (Feb. 11), has a starting time of 11 a.m. for both games and will feature an NBDL experience for students, teachers and parents in a fun and exciting way.
This is the second year of the "School Days" theme as over 5,000 children attended the pair of events last season. Throughout the game, classrooms and individual students will receive prizes as well as informational information about the NBDL's "Read To Achieve" program.
At halftime of each matinee game, there will be an original half-time performance by the Choice Players, a teen performance group with a strong anti-drug and alcohol message for kids.
A program of Partnership for a Drug-Free Community, the Choice Players is a group of middle and high school students that perform skits and songs to warn kids about the dangers of youth alcohol and drug use.
In addition, the Flight has added "Senior Citizens Skip Day" as well during this event. Activities for the seniors include a health fair with booths set up in the concourse, a performance by the River City Cloggers and COSMO bingo during the contest.
The "School Days" games are presented by Crestwood Medical Center, Corr Wireless and Meadow Gold Dairies.
