
Greenville Acquires Calvin Bowman

GREENVILLE, S.C. (January 30, 2003) - The Greenville Groove has acquired forward Calvin Bowman, according to an announcement today by National Basketball Development League Executive Director Karl Hicks and Groove Head Coach Tree Rollins. Greenville also waived center Thomas Hamilton.
Bowman, a 6-foot-9, 210-pound forward, played collegiately at West Virginia ('01). As a senior at UWV, Bowman averaged 17.6 points and was third in the Big East Conference with 9.9 rebounds per game. He was named a first-team All-Big East performer as a senior.
He has played on NBA Summer League teams with the Phoenix Suns and Indiana Pacers, as well as Cibona Zagreb in Croatia. Bowman also logged time in the USBL.
Hamilton averaged 11.8 minutes, 4.2 points and 3.2 rebounds over six games (no starts) before being released by the Groove.
Bowman is expected to be in uniform when Greenville visits Fayetteville Saturday. He will wear jersey number 41.
