Jersey Flight News Release
TRENTON, NJ - Former Philadelphia Soul DB Dwayne Hollis has signed with the Jersey Flight. Hollis spent five seasons with the Soul and recorded 16 career interceptions. He was named to All-Arena four times during his career and was named AFL DB of the Year in 2017.
"It was big signing Dwayne, I have personally seen what he can do," Flight defensive coach Alvin Ray Jackson said. "I have experienced it. He is a very smart and talented guy. We have a secondary full of young guys and bring a veteran presence to the part of the locker room. I'm looking forward to having him out there," Jackson said.
Hollis began his arena football career in 2014 with the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks and was named 1st Team All-PIFL DB/KR & PIFL Special Teams Player of the Year during his rookie season. Hollis signed with the Trenton Freedom in 2015, but was signed by the Soul before the season.
Hollis stuck with the Soul and became an All-Arena DB during the 2016 season when he recorded a career high eight interceptions. Hollis and the Soul defeated the Arizona Rattlers in ArenaBowl XXIX, where Hollis recorded six tackles and recovered a fumble. The Soul won back-to-back championships with another title run in 2017. Hollis recorded an interception in the ArenaBowl, giving him a total of eight during the regular season and playoffs.
Along with multiple other Flight players, Hollis played in the Chinese Arena Football League (CAFL,) in 2016. Hollis was a member of the Shanghai Skywalkers, while OL Wondell Rutledge and DL/LB Boqiao Li played for the Qingdao Clippers, and DL/LB Calvin Fance played for the Beijing Lions.
Hollis was signed by the Atlanta Legends of the AAF in 2019 and played with the team until the AAF folded. He returned to the Soul following his time in the AAF and recorded five interceptions in the AFL's final season in 2019. Hollis joins a Flight secondary loaded with talent and versatility. During his time in Philadelphia Hollis played mostly boundary corner, but has the versatility to shift to the middle or frontside.
