Jersey Flight News Release

GREENSBORO, NC - After three straight weeks of home games, the Jersey Flight embarked on a road trip down to Greensboro, NC to face the Carolina Cobras. They came home with a big win.

The Flight defanged the Cobras yesterday evening by a 65-27 score, receiving contributions from every facet of the roster in the process. QB Warren Smith Jr. was unflappable under center, going 20-for-29, for 153 yards passing and three passing touchdowns. He also tacked on a pair of rushing touchdowns as well.

In the receiving corps, WR Jared Dangerfield had himself a game with three touchdowns on the evening. WR Tyron Laughinghouse also had a receiving score in his return to Carolina. WR Larry Beavers led the team in yards and receptions for the game.

On the defensive side of the ball, WR/LB Neiko Creamer had a monster game, picking Cobras QB Sam Castronova off twice, and recovering one loose ball for three total defensive touchdowns.

The defensive front put the pressure on all night long, as DL Armonti Carey, DL Sean Daniels, LB/DL Nick Haag, and FB/LB Zack Mesday each had a sack. In the defensive backfield, the Flight were able to hold speedy Cobras WR Kendrick Ings to just one touchdown, a departure from his four-touchdown performance against the Flight in week one.

Following the game, Dangerfield and Creamer both spoke about the game and the complete team effort.

Creamer said that having some stability up and down the lineup allowed him to communicate with his teammates and was the biggest piece of the puzzle in his effort on Saturday.

"Yeah, this was our first week where I think we had everybody in place, so we were comfortable," Creamer said. "Everyone trusted their technique from the line to the back end.

"I saw the plays just from communicating with Haag for the front and Hollis, Davenport, and Shad in the secondary to know where I needed to be. I wouldn't have made any plays without the pressure the front guys put on the QB."

As for the first team win, Creamer was especially happy about that.

"The first win lets us get that monkey off our back," he said. "No better day to do it than on June 19th."

And for Dangerfield, the key to the victory was just doing the little things right until they added up to big things.

"[My] mentality on the game was to win the battle every play, leave it all on the field," Dangerfield said. "And every time my number was called, I was grateful and had to make the most of it."

Dangerfield also credited the chemistry between him and fellow Valor alumni Smith Jr., who he played with in Washington during the 2018 season. Having and building upon that connection was something he said was instrumental.

When it came to gaining a measure of revenge on the Cobras, he noted that it had been on the team's mind since the season opener.

"It felt good because they came and stole that W first week from us in our home opener," Dangerfield said. "I felt we definitely should've won that week one game and so did the rest of the team. To go down there and get that revenge w felt good. We had to show that the league has to respect us."

The Flight will be back at home at CURE Insurance Arena on Friday, June 25 when they face off against the Orlando Predators. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m., and tickets are available at the following link.
