Flight Releases 2003-04 Schedule

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., July 19, 2003 â The Huntsville Flight will play 83 percent of their home games, or 19 contests, on weekend dates during their 2003-04 National Basketball Development League season it was announced today.
The 46-game schedule features 23 home contests at the Von Braun Center including the return of the School Days Program with 11 a.m. games, Wed., Dec. 17 and Tue., Mar. 2.
"This is by far the most attractive schedule that we have had," Flight president Kurt Luttermoser said. "This season we can offer families throughout the Tennessee Valley more chances to come out and enjoy NBA-style of basketball. In addition, we are planning to continue to partner with local organizations so we can further enhance the game experience for our fans."
League president Philip Evans is also excited about the schedule for the NBDL's third season as an attempt was made to make the slate more fan friendly. "In an effort to be more fan accessible, as well as play more games on weekends and after the first of the year, we reduced each team's home schedule to 23 games and extended the overall season by two weeks," NBDL President Philip Evans said.
The third season of Flight basketball tips off Fri. Nov. 21 against Columbus at home and runs through Apr. 10 with a road game at the Riverdragons. The 2004 NBDL post season will consist of the top four seeds advancing to a single-elimination tournament format after a regular season champion has been crowned. The top seed at the conclusion of the regular season will host the fourth seed, while the third seed will travel to the arena of the No. 2 seed. The winners of those two games will play for the post-season title at the arena of the highest remaining seed.

Also this season all Flight games can be heard on a new radio station in Huntsville as ESPN 1450 will serve as the flagship station for the team. ESPN 1450 general manager Steve Moulton will serve as the Flight's play-by-play announcer.
The NBDL features six teams including the markets of Asheville (Altitude), N.C., Columbus (Riverdragons), Ga., Fayetteville (Patriots), N.C., North Charleston (Lowgators), S.C., and Roanoke (Dazzle), Va.
