Flight Falls On The Road To Greenville

GREENVILLE, S.C., Nov. 11 Christian Anderson scored 16 points off the bench and Kevin Lyde added 10 to lead the Greenville Groove to a 73-64 National Basketball Development League exhibition victory over Huntsville here Monday night at the BI-LO Center.
Reserve Demetric Shaw scored a team-high 10 for the Flight, while Lonnie Harrell and Rashid Hardwick each added nine. The loss evened the Flights exhibition season at 1-1. The team now will have to pare its roster down five spots to the league-mandated 10 players later in the week in preparation for the opening of its regular season this Friday (Nov. 15) in a 7 p.m. EST game at Roanoke.
The Groove, which finished their exhibition slate at 1-1, shot 46 percent from the floor by hitting 29-of-63 shots. The Flight, on the other hand, converted just 20-of-60 shots from the floor for 33.3 percent and only 1-of-10 from 3-point range.
Greenville also dominated the boards outrebounding the visitors 48-30 in the contest as the Grooves Brandon Kurtz picked up a game-high seven. Shaw led the Flight in rebounding as well with six.
The Flight never led in the game and trailed by as many as 13 points in the tilt. The Groove led 15-11 after a period and 35-25 at intermission. The Flight made a late run and cut the advantage to one in the second half but the Groove pushed the margin back into double figures before holding on to the nine-point win.
The Groove opens their regular season Friday as well by playing host to Columbus in a 7 pm EST tilt.
