NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (Feb. 17) - North Charleston used a big fourth-quarter run to record a 91-80 come-from-behind NBDL victory over Huntsville here Monday night at the North Charleston Coliseum.
With the Flight leading 78-76 after a Demetric Shaw basket midway through the final quarter, Damone Brown started the fateful 10-0 run with a 3-pointer with just over three minutes to play. The Lowgators outscored Huntsville 26-13 over the final 10 minutes of play.
As for Brown, he finished the night with a double-double, tallying 23 points and 14 rebounds in the win.
Lowgator teammate Tierre Brown recorded four points in that decisive stretch on his way to a game-high 26 points, while Sedric Webber contributed 10 points. With the victory, the Lowgators (20-18) won for the sixth consecutive time at home and third game overall.
The Flight (17-21) lost their season-high fifth straight contest along with falling for the third straight time to the Lowgators as well as for the sixth game in the last seven tries to North Charleston this season.
A.J. Guyton paced the Flight attack with 17 points off the bench, while Jermaine Walker added his fourth straight double-digit scoring game with 14 and Brandon Williams added 13. Rodney Bias broke a two-game streak of not recording double-figure rebounds by posting 12 boards.
Although the game featured 12 lead changes and nine ties, the Flight led for most of the third quarter after holding a 47-46 advantage at intermission.
Huntsville was behind by as many as 11 points in the opening quarter, but an 11-1 run to finish the quarter cut the gap to just one as the Flight trailed 24-23 after the first period.
The Flight returns to action Saturday when they travel to Roanoke for a 12 noon contest.
