Flight Acquires Long

GREENVILLE, S.C. (February 26, 2003) - The Huntsville Flight has acquired former NBA forward Art Long, according to an announcement today by National Basketball Development League executive director Karl Hicks and Flight Head Coach Ralph Lewis. Huntsville also waived Eric Williams.
Long, who played collegiately at Cincinnati played in 26 games this season with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Toronto Raptors. At 6-foot-9 and 250-pounds, Long averaged 8.1 minutes, 2.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. In 98 career NBA games (27 starts) with the 76ers, Raptors, Seattle and Sacramento, Long averaged 12.4 minutes, 3.5 points and 3.3 rebounds.
Williams had played in 12 games (two starts) for the Flight, averaging 3.2 points and 3.3 rebounds. Williams, who has also played for Greenville and Columbus in the NBDL this season, has averaged 3.5 points and 3.3 rebounds over 24 total NBDL games (two starts).
Long is expected to play for Huntsville (17-23) tonight when the Flight entertains the Mobile Revelers (19-18). He will wear jersey #44.
