Flash Travel to Play Sky Blue FC for Saturday Night Matchup

BUFFALO, N.Y. (July 28, 2011)-The Western New York Flash (8-2-3, 27 points) of Women's Professional Soccer will take on Sky Blue FC (5-5-4, 19 points) on Saturday, July 30th at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, NJ at 7:00 p.m. A win would put the Flash tied with Philadelphia for first place. The Flash are in a race to the top of the standings with Philadelphia, and with five games left are still capable of having sole possession of first and hosting the playoffs.

The Flash will be full power with international players galore on the field. US national forward Alex Morgan and Brazilian star forward Marta each netted a goal in the Flash's last tie over the Boston Breakers on Saturday evening. Morgan tied the match in the 87th minute off a brilliant outside of the left foot touch off Beverly Goebel's header. Canada's Christine Sinclair, who leads the team and league with eight goals, will be called upon to help the Flash gain three necessary points. Swedish midfielder and team captain Caroline Seger will also be back with the Flash, after an injury kept her out of the past few games. Defender's Ali Riley, Candace Chapman, Whitney Engen and goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris will hold the back line strong for the Flash.

Sky Blue FC and WNY have met three times already this season, with the Flash leading the series 2-0-1. This will be the fourth and final meeting between the two teams during the regular season.

Sky Blue FC won their last game Wednesday night against magicJack 2-0 with a goal by midfielder Allie Long. This win put Sky Blue in 3rdplace in the WPS standings and was magicJack's first loss at home. Sky Blue sports US national team players Hetaher O'Reilly and Tobin Heath, English striker Eniola Aluko, and Swedish midfielder Therese Sjogran who has the second most assists in the league. Goalkeeper Jenni Branam has the most shutouts in the league, with five.

The Flash will return home on August 3rd to play the Boston Breakers at Sahlen's Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
