ELMA, N.Y. - The Western New York Flash have signed 2016 NWSL College Draft pick Laura Liedle, the team announced today. As per league and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
A San Diego native, Liedle was the No. 24 overall pick and the only defender drafted by the Flash in 2016. During her tenure at Stanford, she posted 13 assists and led the defense to 49 clean sheets as well as two College Cup appearances.
Liedle will be available for selection in the Flash's match tonight against U.S. Women's National Team stars Christie Rampone and Kelley O'Hara and Sky Blue FC in Rochester, N.Y.
Tickets for the game are available at wnyflash.com/tickets before kickoff at 7:00 p.m. A live stream of the match will be available at youtube.com/NWSL. The Flash will remain at home for a seven game home stand, with the Boston Breakers coming to Rochester next on Friday, May 27, at 7:00 p.m.
