Western New York Flash News Release

ELMA, N.Y. - Western New York Flash goalkeeper Sabrina D'Angelo has been named to the 23-player roster for the Canada Women's National Team, who will hold its final training camp ahead of Olympic qualifying.

D'Angelo, 22, was drafted with the Flash's sixth pick (No. 21 overall) in the 2015 NWSL Draft. As a rookie out of the University of South Carolina, D'Angelo started seven matches for the Flash, totaling 24 saves.

The Welland, Ontario native picked up her first professional win in the Flash's home opener on May 2, a 3-1 victory over Boston, before being sidelined for a portion of the season with a shoulder injury.

Canada, ranked 11th in the world, will begin their Olympic qualification campaign in Group B against Guyana on February 11, before taking on Trinidad and Tobago on February 14, and Guatemala on February 16.

The tournament will feature eight nations divided into two groups of four, with the top two finishers in each group after round-robin play advancing to the all-important semi-finals on February 19. The winners of the semi-finals automatically qualify for the Olympic Games and also go on to play in the final match on February 21.

Canada's final roster for the 2016 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying tournament is expected to be released in the final week of January.
