Flash Call Up Amateur Forward Ashley Grove

June 13, 2013 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) - Western New York Flash News Release

Elma, N.Y. - With Carli Lloyd, Abby Wambach and Samantha Kerr all fulfilling National team duties, the Western New York Flash have announced that amateur forward Ashley Grove will be called up for Saturday's contest at Washington. Kick-off for that game is scheduled for 7 p.m. (ET).

Grove, a Rochester, N.Y. native, was taken with the Flash's fifth pick (5th round) in the 2013 NWSL Supplemental Draft. The forward played at the University of Maryland, graduating in 2011. Grove left the Terrapins ranked fifth all-time in points (64), sixth in career goals (23) and eighth in all-time assists (18).

A 2010 ACC All-Tournament selection, Grove returned to Maryland in 2012 to serve as a student-assistant coach. She was also an assistant coach for the Rochester Ravens of the W-League in the same year. Prior to that, in 2011, Grove was a midfielder on the Ravens.
