Abbotsford Heat News Release
Calgary, AB - Calgary Flames General Manager Darryl Sutter announced today the signing of forward Andre Roy.
"Andre is a player with a Stanley Cup championship, who provides us with a dimension that is still important in the league," said Sutter. "It was our goal to replace that aspect on our team and we felt it was better to do it now than to trade for it as we go into camp."
In 63 games with Tampa Bay during the 2007-08 season, the 6'3", 202 lb winger recorded four goals and three assists for seven points while accumulating 108 penalty minutes. Originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 6th round (151st overall) of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, Roy won a Stanley Cup in 2004 with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
