Flame Game Versus Fort Worth To Be Televised on UPN-8 This Sunday

FORT MYERS, Fla., February 20 - The Florida Flame have announced that their NBA Development League game scheduled for this Sunday, February 26 against the Fort Worth Flyers will be televised in Southwest Florida on UPN-8 TV. The broadcast begins at 5 p.m. from Germain Arena and is the team's first-ever locally televised game.

The broadcast will also be simulcast on the radio on Sportsradio 770 AM. Flame broadcaster Tim Becwar will handle the play-by-play duties and will be joined in the broadcast booth by Nick Krueger.

Sunday's game versus Fort Worth is also "SpongeBob SquarePants Night with the Flame", as SpongeBob SquarePants, the star of Nickelodeon's smash-hit television cartoon series, will make a live appearance along with his sidekick Patrick at Germain Arena. Both characters will be on hand to meet, greet, sign autographs, and take pictures with kids and adults of all ages prior to and during the game.

Florida is currently tied for first place in the D-League standings with the Flyers. The Flame (20-12) enters this week's games against Fort Worth on a two-game losing skid following Saturday's 112-105 loss at Roanoke. The Flyers (20-12) have won three in a row and 11 of their last 13 games overall. Fort Worth leads the season series with Florida following a pair of victories over the Flame on January 24 (111-83) and January 26 (111-94) at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

The Florida Flame is the official D-League affiliate of the NBA's Miami HEAT, Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, and Orlando Magic. Showcasing the best young talent in professional basketball outside of the NBA, the Flame play a 48-game schedule during the 2005-06 season with 23 home games at Germain Arena. Led by a group of local investors, the Flame is now in its second season of providing affordable, family entertainment to sports fans throughout Southwest Florida.
