
Five-Run Second Inning Lifts Tacoma

Tacoma scored five runs on four hits, two walks and a Sidewinders error in the second inning Sunday and defeated Tucson 5-2 at Cheney Stadium. Tacoma improved to 8-3 this season against the Sidewinders.
Julio Mosquera started the scoring in the second with a two-run single off Mike Gosling (3-5) to put Tacoma ahead 2-1. Chad Meyers ripped a two-out, two-run double to push the advantage to 4-1. Meyers would swipe third base and score on a throwing error from catcher Brad Cresse for the fifth run of the inning.
Tim Olson connected for a solo home run in the Tucson fourth inning cutting the deficit to 5-2.
Tucson mustered just four hits in the loss and just one single in the last five innings. Ken Cloude earned his first win of the year throwing five innings. Reliever J.J. Putz threw three hitless and scoreless innings. Aaron Taylor threw a scoreless ninth for his ninth save.
Tucson dropped to 22-26. The Sidewinders and Rainiers will finish off the four-game series Monday afternoon in 1:35 game. The game will be tape delayed until 6:00 p.m. on AM 990 KTKT. Rafael Soriano (2-2 3.25) will start for Tacoma. The Sidewinders starter is T.B.A.
