Five Returners Make-Up 2016 Roster Thus Far

Harrisburg, PA - The first batch of City Islanders FC player signings for the 2016 Season were announced this past week. There are four returning players along with another familiar face that many City fans will recognize.

Jose Barril

Barril will dawn an Islanders jersey for the third year in-a-row after transferring from Real Madrid in 2014. In his two seasons he has amassed five goals along with eight assists while playing 3,836 minutes in 48 games.

"It is a pleasure for me to come back to the City Islanders for another season," said Barril. "The fan's affection and Bill's confidence in me is what helped me make this decision. I hope to do all that I can to win a championship with my teammates this year."

Aaron Wheeler

Wheeler is no stranger to the Islanders, having played three games on loan during his 2013 campaign with the Philadelphia Union. He also played 14 games for the Union in 2014. Wheeler spent the 2015 season with USL Eastern Conference rival Wilmington Hammerheads, where he scored twice and added one assist in his 10 games.

Dante Leverock

Leverock, the 23-year old Bermudian defender, will take the field for his second season after he helping the defense to nine shutouts along with seven total points in 22 games during the 2015 season.

"I am excited to be returning to the City Islanders for another season and I am confident that we will have a strong season," said Leverock. "I look forward to being a key player for the team."

Cardel Benbow

After a successful rookie season Benbow will return for a second stint with City to back up his two goal, two assist campaign in 2015. Benbow has also played multiple games for the junior and senior Jamaican National Team in many different tournaments including playing the full 90 minutes in his team's CONCACAF Champion League game against MLS DC United.

Garret Pettis

For the fourth season Pettis will lace up as a City Islander. Pettis has played in 51 games in the past two season where he collected five goals and three assists for a total of 13 points. He boasts the all-time goals record, with 34, at Lipscomb University.

This Thursday, March 10, City will travel to Ulrich Sports Complex to face Lehigh for its third preseason test of 2016. Be sure to follow City Islanders FC on all social media and visit www.cityislanders.com for results and more player signings.
