June 22, 2007 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
Los Angeles Riptide News Release
CARSON, CALIFORNIA - Friday, June 22, 2007 - Five Los Angeles Riptide players have been selected to represent their team and play in the sixth annual Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game, which will be held on Sunday, July 8 at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, Massachusetts, at 9:30 a.m. (PT), MLL Commissioner David Gross announced today. The All-Stars were selected by the league's head coaches, general managers and players.
Riptide goalie Mickey Jarboe (Navy '00), defenseman Greg Bice (Ohio State '04), midfielders Graham Gill (Navy '05) and Sean Lindsay (Syracuse '04), and attackman/midfielder Spencer Ford (Towson '99) have all been selected to represent their team.
For the first time in the MLL's seven-year history, the game will match up all stars from the Eastern Conference against their Western Conference counterparts. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 with Joe Beninati and Quint Kessenich calling the action. Tickets are available by calling 888-847-9700 or by visiting www.majorleaguelacrosse.com.
"This game will feature one of the most talented groups of players in MLL history. It is an exciting mix of veterans and emerging young stars," said Gross. "We want to especially thank the players for their input in the voting process. Very few leagues afford the opportunity of letting players vote for their peers. This year we decided to include them in the process and they did an outstanding job with it."
In addition to the game, the All-Star festivities will include the Bud Light MLL All-Star Skills Competition, which will take place at half-time. The events will consist of the Fastest Shot, Accuracy and Freestyle contests. Gill and Lindsay will compete in the Fastest Shot and Accuracy competitions, respectively.
Riptide attackman Michael Watson (Virginia '97) and defenseman D.J. Driscoll (Notre Dame '06) were also named as MLL All-Stars, however neither will play in the game due to injuries.
The Riptide's next game is set for Saturday, June 23 versus the Chicago Machine at The Home Depot Center, with the game scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
Individual tickets to see the Riptide this summer at Home Depot Center are on sale now with tickets starting at $18 for general admission. For more information, visit LARIPTIDE.COM or call 1-866-4-LAX-TIX.
