Five Bucks To Play In Charity Hockey Game

McALLEN, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League have announced that five of the teams players are scheduled to play in the Jason Cirone/Darren McCarty Charity Hockey game, taking place July 15th at the RGV Ice Center in McAllen. Proceeds from the charity events go to Driscoll Children's Hospital and the McCarty Cancer Foundation.

Tickets for the charity game are $5.00 in advance and $6.00 at the door, call SK8's Pro Shop at (956) 683-8111 for more information.

The RGV Ice Center is located at 26th Street and Business 83 in McAllen.

The Bucks will be represented in the charity game by the team's all-time leading scorer Jeff Bes, team captain Serge Dube, Steve Weidlich, Adam Rivet, and Igor Agarunov.

"Playing in these types of games are always gratifying, because we get to help out some great causes", said Bes. "Our team has always been heavily involved in the community since day one, and to be involved down in Rio will be a lot of fun".

Members of several CHL teams are scheduled to participate. Including Laredo's five participants; Rio Grande Valley will be represented by Travis Banga, Dennis Maxwell, and General Manager Grant Buckborough. The Corpus Christi Ice Rays are expected to be represented at the game as well.

"The Bees and Ice Rays have always been our rivals, but in events like these we are all really playing for the same team, the charity's", Bes said.

Cirone has played in the Olympics as a member of Team Italy, while McCarty

Is a four-time Stanley Cup winner, most recently in 2008 with the Detroit Red Wings. He and Cirone were teammates with the Flint Generals (IHL) this past season as McCarty worked his way back to the NHL.

There will also be the Cirone/McCarty youth and adult hockey skills camp also takes place at the RGV Ice Center in McAllen from July 14-18. The charity dinner is scheduled for Monday, July 14, at the Las Palmas Renaissance Hotel on North Main Street in McAllen. In addition, both McCarty and Cirone will be available for autographs at SK8's Pro Shop inside the RGV Ice Center on Monday, July 14, at 5:00 p.m.

Bes, Dube, and Weidlich have won two CHL championships with the Bucks, while Rivet and Agarunov were on the 2006 title team, with Agarunov scoring the Cup winning goal.

Tickets for the charity game are $5.00 in advance and $6.00 at the door.
