
Fisher Cats Announce Jam-Packed Opening Week Schedule

Manchester, NH-The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A Affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, today announced the schedule of activities for Opening Week -Monday, April 2 through Saturday, April 7. The week will be highlighted by the Season Opener at MerchantsAuto.com Stadium on Thursday, April 5 when the Fisher Cats take on the New Britain Rock Cats at 6:35pm.
The players arrive from Dunedin, FL on Monday, April 2 and hold their first workout at MerchantsAuto.com Stadium on Tuesday, April 3. On Tuesday night, the team holds its annual Meet and Greet with Season Ticket Holders and Kids Club members at the SEE Science Center in Manchester from 5:30pm-7:30pm. The players and coaching staff, led by new Manager Bill Masse, will be available for autographs at that time.
"The players and I can't wait to head up there and get the season started," said Masse. "Manchester was always my favorite place to visit when I managed Trenton, and now I can't wait to manage in the home dugout for the Fisher Cats," Masse added. "We're looking forward to competing for the Eastern League Championship."
On Wednesday, April 4, the players will be holding a special Meet and Greet with members of the Manchester Boys and Girls Club from 3pm-4:30pm. Mayor Frank Guinta and Masse will address the kids, discussing the importance of teamwork both in and out of the classroom. Fungo the Fisher Cat and Fisher Cats' players will participate in games with the kids, including dodge ball and table tennis.
Opening Night is Heritage United Way Night, and the first 2,000 fans through the gate receive a free Grappone Magnetic Schedule. After the game, fans will be treated to the first of this season's 20 Atlas Fireworks Shows!
"I always feel like a kid when Opening Day arrives," said Fisher Cats President/General Manager Rick Brenner. "I've been waiting for this week since taking on this role six months ago. This is where it really becomes fun -welcoming our fans back to the ballpark and putting into motion all of the exciting things we have been planning," Brenner added.
The Ceremonial First Pitch of the 2007 Season will be thrown by TJ DeFrancesco, the 8-year old Manchester boy who courageously battled back to health after being struck by a car last September. 77-year-old Korean War Veteran Guy Hastings, winner of the prestigious Silver Star for Leadership, will also throw out a Ceremonial First Pitch. The New Hampshire Military Forces Honor Guard will present the colors, and Danielle Carrier of the WOKQ Morning Waking Crew will perform the National Anthem. Gates open at 5:30pm.
On Friday night, the first 2,000 fans will get another chance to obtain a Grappone Magnetic Schedule prior to the Fisher Cats/New Britain Rock Cats 6:35pm game.
On Saturday, the first 1,500 fans on hand get free Fisher Cats Fleece Blankets, compliments of Sovereign Bank, before the Fisher Cats meet the Rock Cats at 1:05pm.
