First players signed under Coach Fisher

Laredo Lobos News Release


Laredo, TX: The Laredo Lobos and the Head Coach Lawrence A. Fisher are proud to announce the signing Wide Receiver Mike Ward, Defensive Back Garyl Graham and another Defensive Back Roque Vela. These three impressive athletes mark the first three announced signing, with more to come in a few days, for the Lobos under Fisher.

Ramon Maldonado- Equipment Manager

Ramon Maldonado was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. Ramon attended high school at J.W.Nixon where he played high school football as a defensive tackle. After graduating Ramon went on to attend Laredo Community College for two years. After receiving his Associate's Degree Ramon went on to pursue a degree in Kinesiology at the University of North Texas where for two years he was a student assistant equipment mgr. and also a student assistant for athletic trainer for the football and basketball programs. Ramon retuned back to Laredo to attended Texas A &M International University where he received his degree in Kinesiology. Ramon is still attending Texas A&M International University where he has been a student assistant for the athletic trainers, and where he is pursuing a master degree in athletic training.

Brent Darley- Graduate Assistant Coach

Brent is a native of Wilburton, Oklahoma. Brent was a stellar athlete in high school lettering in three sports. Brent is currently employed at Big Buck 98.1. He is currently attending Laredo Community College where he is pursuing a degree in kinesioloigy. Brent is inspiring for a career in coaching. His goal is to be the best college football coach like native Oklahoman Bob Stoops.

Mike Ward- Receiver

A native from San Antonio, TX, Mike started his playing career at Sam Houston High School. He lettered all 4 years of his high school career in a multitude of sports. Mike went onto play college football at Jarvis Christian College where he lettered 3 years. After leaving school Mike returned back to his hometown where he played 4 years of Semi-Pro Football with the Texas Bandits and the South Texas Mutiny. During this time Mike was an accomplished receiver winning many accolades. His hard work paid off when Mike received a phone call from the Head Coach of the Louisiana Rangers of the National Indoor Football League, offering him a position on his team. After playing 2 years with the team Mike returned home.

Garyl Graham- Defensive Back

180 lbs.

A native from San Antonio, TX, Garyl started his playing career at Madison High School. He lettered 3 years in football and track and field. After high school Garyl furthered his education by attending the University of Texas at San Antonio where he ran track for the school. Since leaving school Garyl has played Semi- Pro Football for several different teams in the San Antonio area. Garyl is an accomplished businessman in the San Antonio area.

Roque Vela Sr.- Defensive Back/ Return Specialists

A native of Laredo, TX Roque, started his football career at J.W. Nixon High School where he was a standout athlete in various sports. Roque was a 4 year letter winner while attending Nixon high school. After high school Roque continued his playing career at Hardin-Simmons University where he was a standout athlete. After finishing his playing days at Hardin- Simmons Roque went onto play Arena Football with the Amarillo Dusters, the San Angelo Stampede, and the Laredo Law. Roque is married to a beautiful wife named Kerissa and has a handsome young son named Tristian they are the driving force in his life.
