Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release
Fargo (ND) The Fargo-Moorhead Jets will try to once again take over sole possession of first place in the North American Hockey League's West Division, when they face the Bozeman Icedogs this Friday and Saturday night at the Carlson Coliseum.
Start time both nights is 7:05pm. Friday night is 70s Night, while Saturday night the Jets will be giving away team posters to the first 1,000 fans.
The Jets are at 26-10-2, 53 pts, which is tied with Billings for the most in the division. However, Fargo-Moorhead has three games in hand on the Bulls. Meanwhile, Bozeman is slumping through their worst season since the franchise's early days of the mid 1990s. The Icedogs are only 1-6-1 in the 2005 calendar year, and 14-18-4 overall, good for just 32 points and last place in the West (entering their game tonight in Bismarck).
However, Bozeman did defeat the Jets in the only previous meeting between the teams this season, 5-3 in Montana on Jan. 8.
Jets team captain Dain Prewitt (Westminster, CO) enters the weekend with the longest current scoring streak in the NAHL. A former Icedog in the fall of 2002, Prewitt has scored in all 11 games since the Jets returned from a holiday break in December.
Goaltender Andy Stricker (St. George, UT) is also coming off a good weekend. Stricker stopped 98% of the shots he faced last weekend in a three-game sweep of the Minnesota
Blizzard. Stricker also earned his first shutout of the season on Jan. 23 when the Jets defeated Minnesota 1-0 in Alexandria. It was the franchise's first shutout since former Jet Dan DiLeo shutout the Springfield (MO) Spirit on Oct. 22 at the NAHL Showcase in Blaine, MN.
Both Prewitt and Stricker were runners up for player of the week awards in the NAHL.
Following this weekend, the Jets will be off for a season-high 13 days. The break will coincide with the 2005 NAHL All-Star Game set for Feb. 8 in Frisco, TX. Prewitt and Stricker, along with head coach Todd Knott and broadcaster Scott Montesano, will represent the team in their respective capacities.
The four-member crew is the most of any NAHL team, besides the Texas Tornado, who are hosting the event.
Tickets for both games, as well as the remaining Jets' games are available by calling the team office at (701) 235-2354 or visiting fmjets.com
The FM Jets are in their second season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 29th year of operation.
Jets home games are played at the John E. Carlson Coliseum in Fargo, ND. All games are broadcasted on fmjets.com.
