Watertown Rapids News Release
It's a big baseball weekend in Watertown as the Rapids are home tonight and tomorrow night, with the games featuring fireworks, scouts, youth baseball, and an appearance by LaFargeville's Matt Valin.
The team opens tonight at 7:05 against divisional rivals Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs on Scouts night. The Rapids and DiamondDawgs are neck and neck for the Central Division lead. Fireworks will immediately follow the game.
LaFargeville native Matt Valin is slated to start Sunday's game against the Utica Blue Sox. In three starts, the left hander has a stellar 1.76 ERA. First pitch Sunday is 5:05 pm, with the Rapids welcoming youth baseball players and their families from the Thousand Island Baseball Conference. Following Sunday's game, kids will be invited on the field to run the bases, and Rapids players will be available for autographs. On both nights, all fans can take advantage of the weekend Fun Pack: for only $25, fans will get 4 tickets plus $10 credit at the concession stand.
Looking to the week ahead, Rapids players will pay a visit to the Children's Home of Jefferson County on Monday. The Rapids will also be attending various kids camps at the YMCA in prep for YMCA Camp day on Saturday June 30th. Tuesday night the Jamestown Jammers, holding the best record in the PGCBL, will come to Watertown. It is the only time this season the two teams will meet, making this a key mid-season game.
