
Firecats To Hold Final Preseason Scrimmage Thursday Night

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats will hold their final team scrimmage this Thursday, March 22nd beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Estero High School. The scrimmage is open to the public. Estero High School is located at 21900 River Ranch Road.
The Firecats close training camp this Saturday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m. Florida opens the 2008 season on Sunday, April 6th against the Texas Copperheads in Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. EDT.
Today, the af2 announced the Florida Firecats earned the #3 ranking in the league's preseason coaches poll. Both the Firecats and the Bossier/Shreveport Battle Wings accumulated 290 points in the poll. The defending ArenaCup champion Tulsa Talons earned the #1 ranking with 394 out of a possible 448 points. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers, Tulsa's opponent in the 2007 ArenaCup, finished second with 341 points. Rounding out the top ten are the Spokane Shock, Arkansas Twisters, Green Bay Blizzard, Rio Grande Valley Dorados, Central Valley Coyotes and the South Georgia Wildcats.
Each week during the season the coaches vote for the leagues top 16 teams. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own teams and the poll -results have no bearing on postseason qualification.
