Estero, FL - The Florida Firecats announced the return of Chris McKinney, Tony Stubbs and Anthony "Kris" Thomas today. All three players will be participating in their 2nd season with the team.
WR Chris McKinney - 6-2, 215, Guliford College; Last season he finished third on the team with 95 receptions for 1067 yards and 19 touchdowns. McKinney also rushed for five scores and led the team averaging 15.7 yards per kick return. Before joining the Firecats he played with the af2's South Georgia Wildcats for three seasons. Was a 2006 All-af2 2nd Team Special Team selection. He and QB Chris Wallace were teammates in 2004 with the Cape Fear Wildcats, the franchise relocated to Georgia in 2005.
DB Tony Stubbs - 6, 205, Kansas; A rookie in 2007, Stubbs finished third on the team with 55 tackles. He snagged three interceptions and recovered three fumbles last year. Originally recruited as a running back Stubbs switched to the defensive secondary and registered 190 tackles during his career at Kansas. As junior in 2003 and a senior in 2004 he was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention after leading the Jayhawks defensive backs in tackles, finishing 3rd on the team both seasons.
DB Kris Thomas - 6-2, 205 Florida International University; A rookie in 2007, Thomas played in nine games registering 19.5 tackles and two interceptions. Born in Honduras he played in 26 games from 2001-2003 for the FIU Golden Panthers collecting 65 tackles and five interceptions.
"Getting these guys back for this season is huge," said Firecats Coach Kevin Bouis. "They all have a year in our system and are ready to step up as veterans. We expect to have a lot of new faces this season and we'll be looking to our vets to provide leadership. "

***The Florida Firecats will host their 2nd Free Agent Open tryout at Estero High School Saturday January 19th. A $75 cash only registration fee is due the day of the tryout.
The tryout is open to all players and positions. Players will be required to participate in a Pro-Style combine outdoors on natural grass.
