Firecats Announce Return of Wallace and Burnside

Estero, FL - The Florida Firecats announced the return of quarterback Chris Wallace and receiver/defensive back Brent Burnside today. They are the team's first players to come under contract for the 2008 season.

Wallace is set to begin his 8th season in the af2 and his 4th as the Firecats starting signal caller. Over the past 8 years Chris has played in 76 games throwing for 10,176 yards and 360 touchdowns. Last year he finished the regular season as the af2's second most efficient QB and the second highest passer rating.

2008 will mark the start of Burnside's 9th season in the deuce, making him the Firecats most seasoned player. The 2004 Arena Cup MVP and Ironman of the Game; has 25 career interceptions ranking him among the league's top 10 all-time.

"We're very excited to have both Wallace and Burnisde coming back," Firecats Coach Kevin Bouis said. "Having two veteran guys as a nucleus to build around will give us an excellent foundation for 2008."

***The Florida Firecats will host their 2nd Free Agent Open tryout at Estero High School Saturday January 19th. A $75 cash only registration fee is due the day of the tryout.

The tryout is open to all players and positions. Players will be required to participate in a Pro-Style combine outdoors on natural grass.
