INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Firebirds of the Arena Football League have activated quarterback Raymond Philyaw from the team's injured reserve list. Philyaw will be in uniform and eligible to play when the Firebirds host the Grand Rapids Rampage at Conseco Fieldhouse this Saturday night.

Philyaw joins the active roster after spending the last five games on injured reserve with a dislocated right index finger. Philyaw, the team's third all-time leading passer, is in his fourth season with the Firebirds. Philyaw was injured midway through the second quarter in week-four versus the Arizona Rattlers and has been on injured reserve since.

"We are very excited to have him back in uniform," said Firebirds' head coach Mike Dailey. "He is one of our leaders and I'm sure it will be a great inspiration for everyone to have him back in gear."

Philyaw completed 57-of-91 pass attempts for 669 yards and ten touchdowns without throwing an interception in leading the 'Birds to a 3-0 record to open up the season. He also rushed the ball twelve times for 57 yards and recorded four rushing touchdowns. Through the first three weeks of the regular season and prior to the injury, Philyaw was one of the top rushers in the Arena Football League.

Jose Davis and Jim Ballard are the other two active quarterbacks currently on the Firebirds' roster. Davis led the Firebirds to a victory over the Dallas Desperados last week as he completed 20-of-37 passes for 238 yards and four touchdowns on his way to Game MVP honors. On the season, Davis has completed 52-of-93 pass attempts for 540 yards and seven touchdowns. In three games of action, Ballard has completed 19-of-32 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns. The starting quarterback for this weekend's meeting with the Grand Rapids will be a game-time decision.

Philyaw and the Firebirds return to action for their only Saturday night home game of the regular season when they welcome Central Division rival Grand Rapids Rampage to Conseco Fieldhouse. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Conseco Fieldhouse Box Office, all Ticketmaster Outlets, Ticketmaster charge-by-phone at 317-239-5151 and firebirds.com.
